Getting started
What does clippa actually do with my stream?
It reads the whole VOD and splits it where the stream changes shape: a new game, a new topic, a call, a reaction, the goodbye at the end. Each of those becomes a YouTube video between 10 minutes and 4 hours long, with a title, description and tags in the language you streamed in. It also picks up to 10 short moments and cuts them vertically for Shorts and TikTok.
Which platforms can it read, and where does it upload?
Twitch, YouTube and Kick as sources, one channel per platform. Uploads go to the YouTube channel you connect, which can be the same one.
What do I have to do after a stream ends?
Nothing. When the platform says you went offline, the VOD gets picked up on its own. You come back to finished videos and press upload on the ones you want.
Can it process streams from before I signed up?
Yes, from the Past streams tab, as long as the platform still holds the VOD. Twitch, YouTube and Kick all delete VODs on their own schedules, so older streams may already be gone. Automatic processing only covers streams that end after you link the channel.
Hours and billing
How are hours counted?
By the length of the stream, rounded up to the minute, not by how many videos come out of it. A 4 hour 13 minute stream costs 4 h 13 m whether it produces two videos or six. The hours are held when processing starts and spent when your videos are ready.
What if a stream fails?
The hours go back. You are only charged for a run that finishes.
What happens when I run out mid-month?
Nothing is lost. New streams sit and wait, oldest first, and start as soon as there are hours again. You can buy a 10 hour top-up for $12 at any point, and top-up hours never expire. Plan hours reset each month and do not roll over.
What is in the free trial?
Three streams, each up to 4 hours. No card, and nothing renews by itself.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from your billing portal. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and any top-up hours you bought stay usable after that.
Before you upload
Does anything post to YouTube automatically?
No, and it never will. Every video waits for you. When you do upload, it goes out as Unlisted unless you choose otherwise, and you can edit the title, description, tags and category first.
Can I change the cuts?
You can trim where a video starts and ends, reorder what is in it, swap the music, and change the censoring, then save to re-render. Once a video is on YouTube, clippa never touches it again.
Will swearing get me demonetised?
Autocensor mutes flagged words, and by default it covers the first 3 minutes, where YouTube weighs them most. You can extend it to the whole video, switch to a bleep, add your own words, and whitelist the ones you never want touched.
Can I put my own intro, outro and music on?
Yes. You upload them once and choose which ones each kind of video uses. Music sits under the stream audio, drops when you talk, and never plays over your intro or outro. Whatever you upload has to be yours to use.
How do vertical clips get framed?
You draw two boxes once, one around your facecam and one around the gameplay, and clips are built from those. If you skip it, clips are centre cropped and say so.
Your files and your data
How long are my videos kept?
Finished videos stay downloadable for 30 days, and the Outputs page shows the exact date. The original VOD download is kept for 7 days, which is the window for trimming. Anything already on YouTube is unaffected.
Does clippa read my chat?
On Twitch and Kick it records chat while you are live and uses the reaction to find clip-worthy moments. YouTube streams are cut from the transcript alone, and so is any older VOD, since chat cannot be fetched after the fact.
What happens if I delete my account?
You get 7 days to change your mind, then everything goes: sources, renders, transcripts, settings and records. Your channels are freed immediately for another account, and your YouTube videos stay where they are.
